Safety Notice | Zeus Appollo Hybrid

*Update - 20th September 2017*

Dear Valued Customers,

In June 2017 we received a complaint in relation to the Z21 Hybrid inverter.  The complaint related to a small number of systems in North Queensland where Z21 Hybrid inverters were connected to VRLA batteries, in this case, Vision EVL 16-400A batteries.  The complaint was that the Z21 Hybrid inverter had over-charged the batteries, resulting in a potential safety hazard.

Zeus Appollo takes complaints of this nature very seriously and immediately appointed an independent expert to investigate the complaint.

The independent expert has now completed his investigation and concluded that the Z21 Hybrid inverter was not faulty and had operated as it was designed to do so.

However, in some systems the batteries were over-charged.  The independent expert concluded that this was a result of incorrect design and installation of the systems.

If you have any concerns about the design, installation or safety of your system, Zeus Appollo strongly recommends that you immediately contact a suitably qualified technician to inspect your system.

*Update - 18th August 2017*

Zeus Appollo’s investigations are at an advanced stage and we expect to be in a position to provide updated information shortly.  In the interim, we recommend having a suitably qualified person inspect your battery condition and installation if you have any doubts or concerns about the safety of your system.

*Safety Notice - 5th May 2017*

Dear Valued Customers,

We have been made aware of a small number of installations of Z21 Hybrid inverters connected to VRLA battery Brand: Vision, Model: EVL 16-400A. These installations have the potential to escalate to a hazardous situation. Thus far the incidents relates to a small number of clients, in North Queensland all using the same combination of batteries, Z21 and similar hybrid Inverters.

Currently we are supporting the investigation by State and National based authorities into the cause of this situation.  However we would highly recommend you take the following steps for any customers you are aware of that have installed older technology batteries to a Z21 that do not have data communication link to the inverter. These include but are not limited to, VRLA, AGM, Lead, GEL and Lithium that do not have individual cell monitoring capability.

We strongly recommend you or the end user immediately disconnect their Battery from the Z21 inverter pending the investigation outcome. We will advise you of the outcome and any further action required.

If you or your customers have any questions about the situation please contact us during business hours via Phone (07) 3123 6148 or email to bris@zeusappollosolar.com.au.
